The Electric Bakery, Park Falls, WI

Tonight I wonder about
the woman who used to visit

the bakery before the mill
closed, the bakery with it.

She picked her way down the cracked
sidewalk with her cane, same time

every morning. Her husband
loved crullers, the clerk said,

offering me a Bismarck instead.
We save the last one for her.
